Fun Stuff

Above:One male baby mosquito fish.

Body:Gray with small black dots on females fin.Male and female look really different other than color.

Sexing:Really easy.Male really skinny with a black tear drop under his eye and a pointed anal fin.Female Plump with triangular anal fin and a black gravid spot when pregnant.

Breeding:Very easy to breed as long as you have at least one male and one female. They eat their babies when they're born so scoop out the babies with a cup.

Special Info:Mosquito fish are put in rivers and streams across America to control mosquitos. Mosquito fish are very aggressive in small tanks. They do the best in water gardens and backyard ponds. They are a killifish and are usually around the top of the water.

Comments: I have numerous mosquito fish living in my` freshwater 140 gallon pond in the summer.I have them living with many comets, rosy red minnows, and some other types of fish. Together, they have about 10-25 babies a week. They are very cool fish and are very easy to breed and are great for ponds.
